The way the story was changing (or my thoughts were changing) while reading part 3.... i know i still can't put 2+2... Katniss killing Coin. I did see that one coming to be honest. Ever since it was hinted that she'd try to kill off the Mockingjay. And then, Snow saying how it was her, doping those bombs. I so knew she was going to aim that arrow to Coin. I am very sad cause while it ended happily (as happily as it could lol) there were still many sad stuff. What with everyone parting and all. I wont even talk about Prim's death. I was sad when Katniss' mum didn't return to 12. Same with Gale. Well, better for him staying in another place, living his own life, but still... you know... Haymitch is still around though, drunk as ever. I am (obviously) very glad that Peeta got back to normal. I thought we were going to get Peeta vs. Katniss showdown, cause of the way he behaved. Seriously. Also, i thought Gale was going to die at some point, saving her life. But yeah, this end is way better. ;D Oh, glad she got back to normal too! That's one thing i like about this last book is how they showed everyone being truly disturbed because of the war and the killings and all. They didn't just wake up and went living their lives normally. They were on drugs. There were mental breakdowns... everything a war leaves behind. So yeah, no matter how bittersweet that end is, it still feels right in a way. I agree with you. The way she writes it you almost go through that emotional rollercoaster too. Like I could have done with some morphling when Prim died! Her little ducktail hanging out it was so heartbreaking. I thought it would be Peeta who would die, so glad he didn' t I love him and Katniss! 2nd favourite fictional couple ;D I love how she loved him but didn't know, it was so cute! I am sad that everyone went their seperate ways but it is understandable, Gale will forever remind her of Prim's death and also it means he can move on with his life and she can live with Peeta and they can both help each other to heal the wounds left behind. I knew she would kill Coin and tbh I am happy she did! Having another Hunger Games with the children from the Capitol was a terrible idea! She would have been another Snow! Anyways I bloody love these books ;D Been reading Katniss/Peeta fanfiction, so good!

Hopie/sweetdreams - they're amazing. Read them. You won't regret it. I was hooked from the very beginning. I remember reading Mockingjay and finishing at 3am. I was a complete mess by the end of it. xD The thing that got me was the whole Peeta not being himself anymore, even though he was still him, he was damaged beyond repair. I also remember the last 100 pages being incredibly intense. Even though Katniss went into the games to save Prim, she ended up dying anyway.
Damn, now I want to re-read the series. So good.

Anyways I bloody love these books ;D Been reading Katniss/Peeta fanfiction, so good! I totally agree, she would have def been another Snow. The thing is, i thought somehow Katniss would end up leading Panem, but i guess, she was too young and totally uninterested in doing that.
I can't believe she voted for another games though! I could see that coming from Coin, making another games with Capitol children in it, but i was so surprised Katniss said yes...
I agree about Gale. He will always remind her of Prim's death. They are def better away from each other. He'll be able to move on and find a girl, something he might not have been able to do with Katniss around. Hopie/sweetdreams - they're amazing. Read them. You won't regret it. I was hooked from the very beginning. I remember reading Mockingjay and finishing at 3am. Damn, now I want to re-read the series. So good. I was "WHOA! " when Peeta tried to kill Katniss right after he woke when he was saved. It was obvious he was tortured by the Capitol and wasn't himself on the show on TV, but meh, when he tried to strangle her... First i thought 'it was over', between Katniss and him. That they are finally breaking them apart and that we're gonna see her going into fight, searching for Snow and (probably) dying along the way while he's left in 13 without any hope for getting better. So whenever Katniss survived or not, they wont be able to get together again. But then, when Coin sent him to the Capitol to help the 'assassin' team, i thought it would end up in a K/P killing each other showdown. Or something like that. Just like you've said Lu, it was too intense i had like 10 end ideas after every chapter. I was def surprised that they all survived. Her, Peeta and Gale. But i was mostly surprised that Peeta got better. I will go and agree with minnie, they are def one good pairing. Better than Gale/Katniss because it wouldn't have worked that way. Katniss never loved Gale, she would have been very unhappy in being with him. Very dysfunctional relationship.

I've heard nothing but good things about these books and considering I'm a book worm lol, I seriously need to give them a go. ;D Give them a try. They are not... childish romance books though. They are quite... dark and there's blood. A lots of it... and well. I like them. I'm rather versatile when it comes to reading, so I can sit and read any sort of book for hours. Except Twilight that is. I think they do them in Whsmith. Are they seperate books? or is it one big book, split into volumes?

It's a trilogy, three seperate books. The first is just called the Hunger Games, the second one Catching Fire, and the third Mockingjay. I was "WHOA! " when Peeta tried to kill Katniss right after he woke when he was saved. It was obvious he was tortured by the Capitol and wasn't himself on the show on TV, but meh, when he tried to strangle her... First i thought 'it was over', between Katniss and him. Katniss never loved Gale, she would have been very unhappy in being with him. Very dysfunctional relationship. Yeah, I had the exact same reaction when Peeta tried to kill Katniss, too. I remember thinking that it was going to be some amazing, running at each other reunion - and when he tried to strangle her, I had to re-read to make sure I'd read it correctly. xD The thing with Peeta is that he's not actually Peeta anymore - he's a mutated version of himself. I've always seen it as him not making a full recovery. He's not the guy that we all knew in the first and second books - he's been changed by what the Capitol did to him forever. In the epilogue it says that he still suffers with the anger he has towards Katniss (I think?), part of him still doesn't trust her. I can't remember the last book all that well (and can't re-read 'cause I've left them at university!), but personally, I think that was the most heartbreaking part of the book. Seeing Katniss realise that she loves him when it's too late, seeing Peeta hate Katniss to a point where he can't be in a room with her - not loving her anymore. The kindhearted boy with the bread was replaced by this horrible, more malicious Peeta. But I also thought the same as you, that there was going to be a Katniss and Peeta showdown. Boy, now you're all reminding me why I love this series so much. xD I love them because they're not a happy ending, the characters are still suffering right up to the epilogue. And yeah, I was very, very surprised that they all made it through as well. I honestly thought either Gale or Peeta wasn't gonna make it, because it was the only way to sort out the kinda love triangle that was going on - but I'm so happy it didn't end that way. I wasn't expecting Prim at all. I viewed it as Suzanne Collins' way of showing that the Capitol was still in control. Irony as well, really. Katniss went into the games to save Primrose, but then she ended up dying anyway.

Lu, I think you're confusing the ending for Peeta: He definitely gets better. Obviously he's not perfect, but not perfect in the same sense that Katniss isn't perfect. When he asks her, "You love me, real or not real?" I don't see it as being a need for verification, I just see it as being their thing. Kind of a perfect summary of what they went through together, how their relationship began and ended. Obviously he's not the same Peeta, but she's not the same Katniss. You can't go through what they went through and remain the same person. BUT: He is still the good, kind-hearted, patient boy who loves her no matter what. They wouldn't have let him go back to her if he wasn't healed--they had to be sure he wouldn't try and kill her-- And remember, Peeta started to see himself for what he had become, and when he saw that, he knew he had to fight it. Fight it or die. So he fought it for her. PEETA IS LOVE. ^This! I cried at that line it was so beautiful! I love Peeta ♥

I'm rather versatile when it comes to reading, so I can sit and read any sort of book for hours. Except Twilight that is. I think they do them in Whsmith. Are they seperate books? or is it one big book, split into volumes? Good. You're gonna like them then. ;D And it's three books but the story is connected (where one ends, the other begins) so yeah, it is one big book split in three amazing books. Lu, I think you're confusing the ending for Peeta: He definitely gets better. Obviously he's not perfect, but not perfect in the same sense that Katniss isn't perfect. Fight it or die. So he fought it for her. PEETA IS LOVE. Yep, this is what i thought too. He wasn't completely healed, but he was better. He had attacks from time to time, but the old him is still there. The one that loves Katniss and wants kids with her. It would have killed me if they ended up not together because of him. I must say, i love how Katniss realized she loved Peeta when it was late. When she lost his comfort and lovely words. We never know what we miss until it's gone. Luckily, it was back this time. And no matter how hard i try, i can't get over Prim's death. She didn't deserve that. But yeah, it is a war and it is very realistic to be honest. The reason why she was there in the first place and that she wasn't miraculously saved. YAY. Spoiler buttons party. ;D
