LIANN. FINALLY! Yeah, Katie - they're easy reads, so you can read them pretty quick, but it's one helluva story. These were my thoughts on Mockingjay: It took me three days to read Mockingjay (which for me, is quick) and I finished at 3am in the morning. I had the exact same reaction as you, Liann. I had no idea what to do or what to think. I remember being very distressed and distraught by it for around a week after I'd finished it.
I was happy that Katniss had a sort of happy ending with Peeta, but then there was Prim...and Gale. I think it's the fact that Katniss originally went into the Games to save her sister, but then in the end, Prim ended up dying anyway - that's what got me. I didn't see it coming at all, I honestly thought either Gale, Peeta or Haymitch was gonna go. And Gale - poor, poor Gale, when he said, "looking out for your family was the only thing I had going for me" my heart shattered into a million pieces. I loved the way Suzanne Collins ended the "triangle" - by Gale being the brains behind the bomb that killed Primrose, Katniss just couldn't forgive him. Half the fandom seems annoyed that Gale's story didn't get any closure, but it doesn't bother me at all. I was always 50/50 on the shipping side of things. I shipped Gale/Katniss to begin with, then Peeta/Katniss more by the end, and even though the latter was end game, I found myself still really depressed by it. I think one of the reasons why was because the old Peeta, the fun-loving caring guy, is dead, hijacked by the Capitol and replaced by this...angrier version (as Collins wrote in the last page before the epilogue, he still has the visions). And then there's Gale, still obviously in love with Katniss by the end of the book, but knowing he has to let her go.
The part that got me the most, the one part that I actually gasped out loud at was when Katniss said yes to another Hunger Games - for all of the Capitols young children to be put into a pool and then chosen to become tributes. I felt like diving into the book and slapping some sense into her. And also the fact that Peeta said no - even though he'd been corrupted by the Capitol, by Snow, the old Peeta shone through.
It was all so bitter sweet. The last 100 pages or so were incredible, so intense. When Katniss shot President Coin instead of Snow and she was calling for Gale to shoot her...wow. I just paced around the house for absolutely ages after reading it. Amazing. omg just got to chapter 16 of part 2 in th first book it isamazing like nothing I have read before wow thanks for recommending them!!! ;D I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

So.... i just finished book one. It kinda ended so abruptly cause i expected at least one more moment between Katniss and Peeta, to at least talk it all out...
Overall, the book was fantastic and just like you all said - i couldn't put it down till the end.
I am heading for #2 now - Catching Fire. Can anyone give me a short summary before i find the book?
Will it continue where #1 ended or will it have completely other story? Or, is it the best if i don't know? ;D

^ Thanks. It does sound interesting. I've just started reading it. I like Katniss/Peeta. Yeah, don't know if that's good or not, but they would make a good couple. He loves her, she's just too stubborn/afraid to fall in love/see the truth. Anyway, i came across a Freddie/Effie video on YT today, and i must say, those 2 are looking exactly how i imagined Peeta and Katniss. yeah... crazy eh? ;D twitpic.com/2ueto7p.s. Yes, i know Peeta should have a blonde hair.

CF spoilers (i am at the middle of the book). Oh damn, i so knew she was going back to the arena. I wonder if Hamitch or Peeta will go though... if they are going, i am to the part where they say that 'tributes will be reaped from the existing pool of victors'. I hope they wont though. C'mon D12 - rebel! - So it's Peeta... i don't want him to die, and since there's another book, Katniss doesn't die in this one, so... i don't think they'll make it out alive for the second time. At least not both of them. The Capitol will be ready.

I finished Catching Fire, I'm on chapter 7 on Mockingjay. Possible Mockingjay spoilers. I love Katniss/Peeta! They are so bloody cute ♥ I like Gale as a friend but god he can be a prick sometimes! Like I know it is because he loves her and she doesn't return it so gets a bit pissed, but she doesn't return it to Peeta either at the start (even though she so loves him) and he accepts that and says they should try to be friends. He is so sweet! When I found out they had to go back into the arena I was praying it was Haymitch because obviously Katniss survives and I couldn't see how they could let Peeta survive again. I was reading with baited breath. Like Literally I had to stop and go please don't kill Peeta! Then I read on. The moment on th beach when he says that no one needs him back home and she says "I do." Then kisses him and feels the butterflies and they start seriously making out to the point she says she has never felt hunger like this before I was like YOU LOVE HIM GIRL!!! It was brilliant ;D The force field thing was crazy, I sort of got a bit lost up it in all. I get what happened but it was like so quick I was like huh? lol But it was really intense loved it! I can't remember if this is CF or MJ but I am so pissed they left Peeta behind! I know it will make her more badass to win the war and stuff but I miss him in MJ. The bit where he is on tv and she touches it I was like oh you two...I effin love you! Then demanding that he isn't killed! ;D Also this whole traitor thing has pissed me off! He is being tortured or god knows what, he is trying to protect Katniss and he is being his usual self thinking of all those who are likely to die if there is a war or if he doesn't say this you know? Like they could have Johanna or something threatening to kill her if he doesn't play along. It's Peeta he isn't a traitor. (well he better not be! lol) Anyways yea these books are amazing!
