omg some of the fans are so rude. Especially when it comes to HP.
Harry Potter wins.
It's actually gained, what is it, £3.5 billion already, right? the films? Or something? And there's 3 more to go. Can't be sh** if it's THAT popular.

^ Also, Harry Potter is already being studied in schools. I can guarantee you that you will never see Twilight as part of a school curriculum.

LOL Twilight teaches you nothing. Harry Potter actually teaches people things, lol. (not like dragons, hahaa, but like, friendship and love.. which is cute)
Besides, if I ask someone if they know what Harry Potter is, I guarentee that they will say that they've heard of it. Twilight? No. I asked my mum and she said no. "What's that?" haha.

Exactly. Twilight is actually not a good book. It sucks. It's only addicting.

I actually think the first half of Twilight was FAMAZING! It was fast paced, snappy, interesting, and new. AND EDWARD WAS HILARIOUS!! OMG. But then it just went downhill. Yep. And Sorcerer's Stone grossed over $1 billion worldwide. I honestly can't see Twilight making that much. And if it did, it still isn't as significant as HP doing it. For one, fantasy was not popular at that time, and second all of the Twilight fanbase (most of it) came from Harry Potter. The reason why the fanbase exploded, was because it was already there.

I said that IF Twilight made more then SS, then it wouldn't be that great of an acomplishment because the fanbase is already there, whereas with Harry Potter it was brand new.

I wouldn't say Twilight "sucks." I think it is a fun, quick read - sort of a beach towel book. You read it at the beach as like fluff or entertainment. It doesn't make you think; it doesn't make you feel any deep emotions. In that regard, it is successful. I believe that Harry Potter, on the other hand, will be considered classic literature. It will be part of the British literature canon studied in schools, along with Dickens and Austen.
