I wouldn't say Twilight "sucks." I think it is a fun, quick read - sort of a beach towel book. You read it at the beach as like fluff or entertainment. It doesn't make you think; it doesn't make you feel any deep emotions. In that regard, it is successful. I believe that Harry Potter, on the other hand, will be considered classic literature. It will be part of the British literature canon studied in schools, along with Dickens and Austen. agreed.

The other thing that's annoying me is that the US is getting the film on November 21st, whilst the UK is getting it on December 19th - a whole month later -______- The Czech Republic, The Phillippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand are all getting it before we do It just confuses me because Robert Pattinsons English... Most of my friends who are into Twilight are saying they'll just watch it online instead of waiting the extra month for it to come out and loads of people from the UK are doing that too, which worries me, because it means they'll lose money

I'm not gonna get into an arguement of whats better or not.. especially since this isn't a Harry Potter vs Twilight thread.. I think both are amazing. And both are very different. So one can not compare them. And to put Harry Potter in the ranks of Austen.. is absolute rubbish! It's not even the same genre, also it's not a classic...yet. Yes, it is being studied at some Universities which is great and refreshing..and Twilight is on the High School reading list for 10th graders.. it's may not be college, but most of the "classics" one reads and remembers are in your High School English class. (for example; The Great Gatsby) I don't think its fair to bash a book or say one is better than another, especially since not everyone shares the same opinions and both authors are the shizz!

(for example; The Great Gatsby) I'm sorry. I just have to address this and then I'm done. No one is comparing Harry Potter to Austen. I said I thought HP would be studied in schools like Austen and Dickens are now. And I do believe that Harry Potter is on the GSCE level reading list in England, and correct me if I'm wrong, but GSCE levels are taken after the equivalent of American high school. I'm a high school English teacher with a master's degree in English. I could see the possiblity of Harry Potter being taught in high schools in 30 years. Twilight will never be taught. I can guarantee you. Students will still read it and enjoy it outside of school, but it will never be part of the curriculum.

But that isn't bashing. She's just saying that from a literary standpoint, Harry Potter is up there with the greats of literature (well, someday it will be ), and Twilight is definitly not. And for Harry Potter, one can delve into it and discuss it in so many different ways. The books are meant for deep discussion, whereas with Twilight, they're clearly not. SMeyer has said that she wrote them just for pleasure and that there were no hidden meanings. Dude. No kidding. I want to see Twilight just to revel in the gorgousness that is Robert. HE IS SEXYYYYYY. No fair that Kristen gets to kiss him touch him, and stare at him for hours. *iz jealous*

One thing that annoys is me that a lot of people say that they love the other Twilight books but they don't like Breaking Dawn. Okay the fact that they all had a happy ending wasn't that good but would you rather have that then Bella or somebody else dying? I would rather have the happy ending...
