I think it's calming down now though from what I've seen on the news tonight. There's more police on the streets and they seem to have gone about it differently, so hopefully it should get better from now. I've hated being at work today, there's been police everywhere and we had a memo around 1:30pm to say that a gang would be coming around 2:00pm to cause havoc but they never did, I think it was just to scare us, it bloody well worked though. Silvia *Hugs you too* hehe. This blog has really helped me keep up to date with what's happening in Birmingham: birminghamriots2011.tumblr.com/There's photos of the Bull Ring's glass doors completely smashed. But it seems to be calming down slightly - well, more calm than it was last night. Oh gosh, that must have been very scary. Glad you're okay! Lino - hope you're okay too and stay safe.

^ I am reading those posts... it's madness cause it's young people out there. Shouldn't their parents do something??? where i live in Manchester it is not calm. It started there this evening and still going. At the moment it is not near me yet, and i hope it will not move towards my area. I've seen some Pages on Facebook about people calling the rioters to burn down Old Trafford. Bloody idiotic. >_> I really hope all of you are safe and well. Also, i really hope it's calming down cause it's become an utter madness. I've hated being at work today, there's been police everywhere and we had a memo around 1:30pm to say that a gang would be coming around 2:00pm to cause havoc but they never did, I think it was just to scare us, it bloody well worked though. *hugs you*

Thinking of those affected by these rioters and sending so much love. I believed that the army was called in but maybe that has been squashed. On the the news this morning it told of a large contingent of vigilantes who have congregated to help. Also felt so proud of the the many many volunteers who have assembled to clean up London. It brought back memories of January here in Brisbane when the city was inundated with flood waters from our river and the hordes of volunteers who helped to clean up after the flood waters receded showed that a whole community came together as one to help their fellow townspeople who were suffering from a terrible devastation. Our thoughts are with you all and we pray for an end to this meaningless destruction of your towns.

Hi. All is well by me. Even thought we had problems in manchester, they didn't get near my home.
Just was reading "A 16-year-old looter from Manchester tells BBC 5 live he will continue participating in the violence and theft until he gets caught, because it is his first offence and nothing will happen" or "Two girls who took part in Monday night's riots in Croydon have boasted that they were showing police and "the rich" that "we can do what we want".
That's what they think. Just mad.

It seems to be under control and I dunno if you can call this a blessing in disguise, but during the riots in Birmingham, this bloke was driving 80mph and he drove straight into these three young lads who were protecting their carwash business and killed them. One of them was a friend of mines cousin, it's absolutely heartbreaking, so I think it was a wake up call that all of this had to stop.
