Harry had never thought much about the fact he had no close family. There'd never been much down time for him to dwell on it the past. Plus, the friends he had made at Hogwarts filled the gap in his life that the Dursleys had never even come close to filling. The Weasleys had taken him under their wing without hesitation as a first year; almost like the picture perfect family he had always wanted to belong in.
After Fred had been killed, after the war was finally over, and after everything Ron, Hermione and him had gone through, he never expected what that owl that changed his life said. It was sent a week after Ron and Hermione's wedding; bearing a black seal and a message he could remember as clear as day.
It read:
Dear Harry,
You've been like a brother to me ever since we shared all that candy from the trolly on our train ride to Hogwarts... Those were some of the best years of my life. I'll never forget it. You risked your life countless times for me and Hermione, but I can't have you put us in danger any longer, Harry. I want to have a family with Hermione; grow old and raise little witches and wizards. I don't want them to know who you are. I don't want them to be around the person that was marked by He-Who-Must--...Voldemort. Bloody hell I still have trouble saying the bloke's name. I just never want them to be in danger. You understand that right? Hermione supports me on this issue... I guess that means...er... I guess this means it's time to say goodbye. Don't write to either of us. Don't even reply to this letter. We had some good times, but we have to move on. And as for my family, I'd rather you distance yourself from them. They've been through enough as it is. There are still Death Eaters around. I can't take my chances. I'm done bargaining for my life, and now that I have a wife, I will not take any risks.
My deepest apologies,
Ron Weasley
When Harry saw that, it was like his whole world had been destroyed. Even Hermione supported Ron on the idea of abandoning him? He hadn't heard from them in over three years. He missed them both tremendously, but living without knowing if Hermione was okay... It was like a personal purgatory.
He missed everything about her. He missed her delicate hands that comforted him, her voice that soothed him through every turmoil they faced. The way her smile always seemed to shine when she looked at him. He remembered when they danced and how their bodies fit perfectly and synchronized to the music playing..... He shivered with the memory. There hadn't been a day that passed without thoughts of her flooding his conscious. He had to put the past behind him... He had to move on. He tried to with Jenny. It was an emotionless relationship. Gray. Bland. Dead. Every time he was with her, he was thinking of the curly brown haired genius that stole his heart over ten years ago.
Harry was really good at hiding his feelings; pretending to be happy for Ron. He even managed to smile at their wedding. When in truth, he wanted to just wrap Hermione in his arms and tell her she could choose him... But he was too late, the moment passed and now he sits here in this quiet cabin haunted by old memories, and empty heart.
He was about to go wash some of the dishes that were starting to pile up in his sink when he heard a soft knock on the door. Harry was surprised, then slightly agitated. Who the hell knew where to find him? He opened the door and found his heart had stopped mid-beat. It was Hermione.

Okay this is from a roleplay from another site, as usual it was a H/Hr roleplay. Now the question here is whether Hermione is with Ron or Harry, would it really destroy the close bond between Ron and Harry? I do not believe so, this is a situation set after the sixth book and Ron has written a letter to Ron. Take a look and comment.
