Fingers crossed it'll get picked up! But going by some info there's a good chance it will. (cross between "My name is Earl" and " Raising Hope")

We are in such need of decent programming these days here in the US-sorry my US pals but TV is really not that great...to have Rupert on the TV WEEKLY would be so amazing to happen and to get to watch!! As much as I adore Rupert and his acting, the writing has to be good! Thats what happens to alot of our shows-the acting is awesome but the writing kills it. But this sounds original and they could do so much with it!! On a plus plus note : I hear Into the White is coming to theaters here!!!! I am HOPING my indie theater shows it!!!! I got lucky with Perks showing so I can only HOPE HOPE that Into the White will be released here as well. I have heard such amazing things about that movie and Rupert's performance in particular so I would love to see it on the big screen!

Honestly I don't know what to think of his new move. Don't get me wrong I am more then thrilled that we get some work related news from him, I was waiting a long time for it.
But I have to be honest I am confused about his choice. First I thought after being known as Ron from HP for so many years he would stay clear of doing another project where he can might be typecast again. And being a lead in a tv show he will be typecast again. I am also scared that it might be much more of a risk for a tv show not working out. Also I read comments where peoples find it is a step down for him from a successful franchise to a unknown tv project. What are your thoughts about it. On some level I might agree. What I find sad is that both his films "into the white" and "the necessary death of ..." did get poor reviews, compared to those gushing and good reviews from Emma and Dan. I really want Rupert to do well and get the recognition.

True being typecast is a problem after coming off of a huge franchise like HP lino but with that said showbiz is always a risk and playing it safe all the time doesn't get you anywhere. Seeing as Rupert has yet to get a leading role in any of the movies he's in that are coming out either this year or next (which is a alot) I think that this is a step up rather than a step down. It just shows that he can do more than just movies. Not some one trick pony if you will. Sitcoms on resumes look great actually. Example George Clooney worked on ER before landing his first movie role and look how big he is. Now im not comparing Rupert to George but try not to look at the negatives is what im getting at. Sure it might not do to well I mean there is always a chance of that happening with anything. But take it as a good sign that he is in fact making career moves. Good or not remains to be seen. It's actually a good thing that CBS is willing to take a chance with Rupert because im sure they know how many people around the world know who he is and the last time I checked CBS itself is the most watched channel in the US and that right there is another chance for even more people to become a fan of his. I personally think this is a huge chance for Rupert to become even bigger than he already is.
For the reviews of Into the White I have a read many of them and not once did I read one that was bashing Rupert. It was always something bad about the other actors and in those very same reviews was praise for Rupert saying how down to earth and believable his character is. I have seen that movie about 4 times now and trust me when I say that it really is good. As for Ndcc the only ones I have seen are the ones talking about Shia and his lack of depth but nothing on Ruperts performance. Wait until the movie is released in september and see if you like it and not go off of what some critic says because more often that not those same critcs like the stupidest movies out there and don't know what they're talking about most of the time. Time will tell on how well these projects of his are recieved in the US. Rupert is well on his way to get the recognition from others we all think he deserves. Watch and see.

Oh goodie. Reasons I stay away from forums lately. I do, however, agree with rabhimself. The perceptions of filmactors vs. tv actors has long changed over the years. IF it gets picked up and goes ON for a few seasons it will bring Rupert great publicity in the states. + Rupert on my tv every week? f*** YES.
