Exacly. Bashing Ron isn't going to make Hermione fall in love with Harry!
They're in denial! Haha

LOL. When I read this essay a couple of years ago, I think I almost died. My heart rate went up and I was like Uh-uh, you did not just go there. I was so furious. But most of the essay takes quotes out of context, so most of it is reaching, ok ALL of it is reaching. Besides, if you want to talk about who's abusive, then Hermione would be the candidate. I mean she's the one who sent the canaries after him and then started whaming on him when he left in DH, and then came back.

He didn't even retaliate when she sethe canaries on him. He didn't put his hands on her when she was hitting him. I just don't get how anyone could possibly see Ron as abusive.

I get the feeling that people either *click* with Ron's character or they don't.
An example is the Mirror of Erised scene.
One might see Ron's reaction to it, and interpret it the way Dumbledore did, that here is a boy, overshadowed for most of his life, yearning for some kind of recognition and elevation that he has no idea of what feels like. A very emotional thing that many of us can connect with.
Others, many H/Hr shippers, interpret it to mean that Ron is a shallow materialistic person who likes shiny trophies.
It seems to be a yes or no thing. You either understand him, or you don't.

It seems to be a yes or no thing. You either understand him, or you don't. Brilliant. I couldn't agree more. You got to the root of the issue and communicated it very succinctly. I think that's what J.K. Rowling meant when she said: "Who doesn't like Ron?" I think she was saying, who hasn't wanted that recognition or attention at some point in their lives? Who hasn't felt insecure? Who hasn't let their emotions get the best of them at least once? But for whatever reason, some people can't connect with those very dominant aspects of Ron's character. This particular essay about Ron's "abuse" also shows a lack of understanding of interpersonal relationships which is totally ridiculous. Anyway, I am exalting you, shikamaru, for explaining Ron bashers, H/Hr shippers, everything. Bravo! *exalts*

Wonderful post, Shikamaru *exalts* ;D That essay is so stupid, I can't believe I managed to read it all... Those quotes are just plain stupid, especially considering the fact that most of them are completely taken out of context.... And come on! This whole thing is camuflaged in :"Oh, I so care of Hermione's future, we wouldn't want her to end up with abusive husband!" but you can clearly see it's all about pushing H/Hr... I mean: Hermione's affectionate speech... It wasn't affectionate, Hermione was plain annoyed that Harry was so stupid he couldn't realize that this whole fuss was about him...and Ron "butted in" because he's insecure and he wants Hermione to acknowlege his acomplishments as well...not because he wants "to cut off Hermione's contact with Harry", I mean, how stupid is that. And saying that it was Ron's fault that he has scars from brains is just too much...Hello?? He was under the f**king spell!! He wasn't himself! And saying that he wanted to curse his sister? Yeah, right, as if you wouldn't curse someone who'd tell you that your crush kissed another guy, that you have no experience in relationships whatsoever and that you're kissing your own owl?? And of course, Ron also hit Harry in HBP...let's think about it a bit, shall we...that chapter is a bit vague to me... Oh, is it the one where Ron accidentaly ate candies filled with love potion, making him fall desperately in love with Romilda Vane, thus hitting Harry for insulting her? I mean,

They care nothing about Hermione. It's all about their deluded fantasy where they end with the hero. They feel that Jo is degrading them for *gasp* inserting a little realism into their lives. I mean if you were a true fan of Hermione, you would be happy that she got what she wanted. You don't even have to like Ron, just acknowledge that she got it all.
