About the anonymous actresses for Katniss, I think it might be a little more difficult than you think to find a young unknown actress with the right physical look PLUS the depth and talent to carry off that role. Maybe that is why we haven't heard yet; it's taking longer than they thought to find the right person.

The rumours said the castings would start in February/March, so i guess it's a bit early to decide for any roles, especially for Katniss. But i am sure, like you've said, they'll have hard time finding the right one.
I for one, think they'll go for the anonymous one only because the media/critics wont jump into criticizing and hating the project like they would if a "star" is playing the main heroine. Kaya, Emma... whoever, they'll do the same. Good or bad, the critics would spend all it's time to criticise the star and will put the actual movie into second place.
Anonymous girl is the safe choice i guess. Plus, this movie already has the fans attention cause there are millions of fans who love the books and can't wait for it.

People on tumblr are pissed. I've never seen her act myself, but she was oscar nominated for her role in The Lovely Bones, so she must have some acting chops. She is 20 and has done swimsuit modelling. She is not at all how I imagined Katniss to look though... she is blonde, blue eyes and white. I expected Katniss to be quite tan. I don't know maybe they can make her over to look like Katniss.  |

I think they will make her look like Katniss. They'll have her hair dyed and all. I also think most people are annoyed because Kaya didn't get it. If this girl has an Oscar nomination, she must be good. |

^Exactly. I am just glad they got someone who can act, rather than the fan favourite. As much as I love her, I didn't want Kaya for the role, so WOOHOO!
I think she could pull off the look if her hair is dyed and stuff. I am actually glad they went with someone who is pretty, but like OMG WERE DID THIS BEAUTIFUL CREATURE COME FROM pretty. She is one of those people who can look ordinary sometimes and stunning at other times. I approve!
