Like the dark knight that was flirting with R as they could possibly get. I figure they could get away with that couldn't they?

Sooo I've just finished the entire series in two days. Thoughts: Oh my God. I'm so glad I read these. It's amazing how much of a roller coaster ride a good author can take you through. I confess that there were definitely moments in which I had extreme frustration with Katniss, the biggest would be her vote for the Hunger Games again for Capitol children. Prim would never have wanted that. From the first book, I was attached to all characters and I was very nervous for the outcome of the story. It was during book 2 that I realized how much I preferred Peeta to Gale. I knew Katniss couldn't live a proper life anymore without the adorable bread boy. They'd been through too much together. Katniss changes too much within her fights at the Hunger Games to be that girl that she may have wanted to be with Gale. Throughout the last book, I was pretty distraught over Peeta's change and was even more annoyed with Katniss' attempts to get over it, all of it, him. It wasn't that simple, not after everything. Another thing...I knew neither boy could die and have Katniss thrive in a relationship with the other. There must be some kind of separation, moving on. I did doubt their survival, but it was how I personally felt about the thing and I'm glad it ended that way, as opposed to the, so to speak, cleaner method of killing one off. It's truly sad about the loss of connection that Gale and Katniss once had so strong. But that was a real story...

It's truly sad about the loss of connection that Gale and Katniss once had so strong. But that was a real story... Exactly. This is what i agree the most. That ll felt real. It wouldn't have been a real story if it had a happy ending. If everyone lived... if they all were fine and happy and in love... Even Katniss' mother leaving. That was very real and expected too. You can't walk out from a war as a winner. There's no winner there. Everyone end up being fucked up. So far, nothing new on the casting (which will start soon) or something else move-related. I must say i agree now that they need an anonymous girl for Katniss. Kaya is good but it wont work.

I just finished with this trilogy, and I am totally obsessed. I thought, "Hmm I wonder if there's a thread about this in the forum..." Sure enough, there already is. Great minds think alike. I loved Peeta and Katniss from the beginning. So...woot! They ended up together. I thought maybe Katniss would end up with neither Peeta nor Gale. I was surprised when she did actually end up with Peeta, but they were perfect from Day One. My question: Does everyone really think Coin sent those firebombs, or was it really the Capitol and Snow was lying? Like, maybe if he couldn't have the power, he didn't want Coin to have it either since District 13 beat him in the Dark Days, so he planted that idea in Katniss's mind knowing what would happen when he did.
I guess maybe I don't want to believe that Coin would do something so awful. There are a lot of violence in these books, but the firebombing of those children was just the worst part. I almost couldn't handle it. I had to put the book down and go away for a little while.
However, the moral ambiguity was one of the best parts of the books to me. No one is all good or all bad, which is more interesting and more realistic. I definitely would not want anyone younger than 14 or 15 read those books. Even that's pushing the age limit to me. Another question: Before Panem was formed, did the rest of the world just leave North America to destroy itself? What happened to Asia? Europe? South America? That bugs me! There have to be other countries out there. And finally, I lost it when Katniss was describing the book that she and Peeta made to honor all of those who died. What a beautiful idea. And then at the end when she was talking about their kids...guh. I can't wait to see the movie. Personally, I think Kaya would be really good. To the vast majority of people in America, she is unknown.

Sorry for double post. I just read that there are Internet rumors that our very own Miss Watson will play Katniss.
I love Emma, but I can't think of anything WORSE than her playing Katniss. I have also come around to the anti-Kaya crowd. My new pick is Hailee Steinfeld.
Finally, I also read some blogger who put forth William Moseley for the role of Peeta. I had never thought about him, but when I looked at his picture, I realized he was EXACTLY how I pictured Peeta when I was reading. I'm unsure of his acting abilities, though... :\
Any thoughts? I'm hoping the cast will be announced any day...

There's no way Emma would play Katniss. After the 10 years on HP franchise, there's no way she'd do another franchise next. Plus, she said she was going for minor roles at the moment. So that's very untrue rumour. As for William Moseley... i can't stand that dude. I apologize if anyone is offended but i just can't. :/ About Kaya... i think it was confirmed she got the script, but nothing official from then. Personally, i think they should go for anonymous actress. Same for Gale/Peeta.

I see everyone's point about an unknown actress for Katniss, but she is an EXTREMELY complicated character. I don't think someone without much experience could pull it off. :-\ They would have to find some amazingly awesome, undiscovered talent, which would be hard. Peeta and Gale, I could see them being played by someone anonymous.

Katniss is a young girl, so it's not very risky to get an anonymous actress. We are seeing new talents every day, new good kids, so they can find the right one, experience or not. It would have been a bad thing to hire a anonymous for a main role of a 40 year old person. If he/she is still anonymous at that age, they are bad, but you can't tell with kids/teenagers. They can just show up from nowhere and they can be good. Plus, today's young/famous actors (both males/females) are more pretty than good actors.

^I agree! William Moseley has the most annoying voice... >.< People are saying Alx Pettyfer for Peeta. As much as I think he is attractive, I think he is too cool for Peeta. Even though I know Peeta is attractive, I just think he is too hunky. Maybe he could play the mermaid guy in the second one! Can't remember his name
