^I've been having a funny feeling in my chest for a few days now, and before I found out it was acidity I thought I had lung cancer. Beat that

^I know how you feel. I do exactly the same thing, I always think the worst and then think I'm gonna die or something stupid like that. The worst I've probably ever though I had was sickle cell anaemia when I was 16 and only Afro-Caribbeans can get it. xD Turns out it was just anxiety. I also had a neck ache yesterday and thought I had meningitis. Seriously. I don't even understand why I thought that. I'm getting better as I get older though. I'm becoming more rational minded and not jumping to all sorts of conclusions. ;D

^I'm the opposite, I'm getting worse as a grow older Every little symptom that I get automatically means I'm seriously ill =| Take a fever, for example. I go OMG SWINE FLU I'M DYING AAAAAAAAAH D: and everyone else goes "-_______-"

^Do you get stressed easily? Or suffer from panic attacks/anxiety? Because that can sometimes heighten hypochondria. The best thing you can do is to talk to people about it (psychiatrist, friends, brothers/sisters, parents, or even us on here), because then they can calm you down and sort out your thinking pattern. The way that your thinking has a great deal to do with it - you feel a symptom, relate it to the worse possible illness you can think of, then you start to make yourself worried or anxious, then you think your gonna die/become seriously ill and then it goes back round again. You've just got to break that pattern, instead of thinking your seriously ill try and be more rational. You will probably find you'll grow out of it as well, your only mid way through your teens, which is when mine became quite bad as well. I'll think you'll find that it'll eventually sort itself out as you get older. If your still really worried about it I'd advise to go to the doctor's and see what they advise you to do. I had to go and see a psychiatrist about my anxiety during my GCSE's two years ago, and it helped a lot. I'm the same with the Swine Flu virus - your not alone there. ;D It's natural to be worried, because it's been so hyped up by the media. I live in Solihull, right next to Birmingham where's there's been just over 900 cases of it. Greattttt. But if you need someone to talk to about it, just pm me.

Thanks very much, Lu ;D I think seeing a doctor can be crossed off the list, my mom would kill me if I told her the reason The swine flu thing actually doesn't bother me much anymore. Which is funny because you'd think that after it said in the news that one person's infected here (ONE PERSON!! LE GASP) I'd go nuts

Your Mom's like my mom then, my dad had to take me to the psychiatrist when I had really bad anxiety. She's really closed minded to this sort of thing for some reason. Haha, there are 900 people with the virus in a 50 mile radius of me, I really should be more on edge. xD But apparently it's not as bad as the media have thought it to be (or as it gets passed on from person to person it weakens), everyone who's had it in England has survived (as far as I know) So that's putting my mind to rest a little. A ten year old girl who had it just said it was like flu, but a little bit worse. And that's okay. ;D It REALLY does help to talk to someone about it, if you keep the thoughts to yourself, you'll just keep getting more and more worried. Just remember, it's a psychological thing, there's nothing actually wrong with you, your just a bit more aware of what something could mean than everyone else. You over analyze, like we do with R/E sometimes. ;D haha. But yeah, if your ever worried just drop me a pm, I really don't mind at all. I've been in the exact same situation, just recognise when you start to become more hypochondriacy (<I made up that word xD) and think about why your thinking like that and then try and stop it. It helps to write stuff down too. ;D
